Q & A with Tom in Today's Columbia Tribune

Tom made the front page of the Columbia Tribune today (see below, top left).  The picture was a teaser for his Q & A Interview, which headlined the sports section in this week's Sunday paper.  If you're in Columbia go out and grab a copy; if not you can read the full article by clicking on this link.

The Yeti is "Put to Rest" today at 3 PM (PST)

Gillette_fusion_logo_small_2 We can officially say farewell to The Yeti today.

We just got off the phone with Tom, and he said he will be getting hacked up on stage today, around 3 PM (PST).  So if you're in Sonoma, head over to the stage and say your goodbyes to the Yeti.

They are bringing in a professional barber to finish off the Yeti with some type of Gillette Razor.

The piece will be airing in one of the first two segments on "Trackside LIve".

We will put it up later, when we get a chance.

Story from Speedtv.com

Speedlogo_smHere is the full story from speedtv.com talking about Tom Shaving on "Trackside Live".

The article states that Tom will be shaving on Stage Live, this Friday night.  So the Yeti Crew must have mis-understood Tom's voicemail and thought it was being taped tonight.  Either way, it will air live on Speed Channel tomorrow night at 6PM.  So be sure to get your Tivo ready; because it will be the the last we ever see of The Yeti (unless he somehow comes back to haunt us?).

Here is an excerpt, from the article mentioning the Yeti Site . . .

Giacchi, playfully known as “The Yeti,” gained popularity around the motor sports community, including sporting his own Web site (www.tomgiachhi.com) and fan club, when he committed to growing his facial hair until Edwards scored his next victory. Edwards went 52 races between victories, before winning last weekend in Michigan.

Tom to Shave Tonight in Sonoma!

Tom is heading to Sonoma to shave live on stage tonight.  They will be filming the segment for Track-side Live, which will be airing tomorrow on the Speed Channel (Friday 6 PM EST).

So it looks like the Yeti won't make it to New Hampshire.  Instead a cleanly shaved Tom Giacchi, will take his place.

Be sure to watch this weeks episode of Track-side Live and see "The Yeti" laid to rest.

By the way, here is the initial sketch for the "Commemorative Yeti Gear" highlighting the Last Yeti Hunt at Michigan.  The final version should be up in the Shop later this week, for anybody who wants a farewell keepsake from The Yeti.

Highlight Reel from the WIN at Michigan!

Obvioulsy Tom has been all over the news today, last night, etc.  Thousands of you have stopped by his blog today, to pay your respects to the YETI, and I am sure shed some virtual flowers on his headstone.  It will still be a week or so until Tom fully rids himself of the Yeti Carcass (he will be shaving either next week or the next); either  way he is excited to say the least.

Here is a highlight reel we found on YouTube today (posted by bumpstop3).  It revisits the ups and downs of yesterday's race in Michigan (or as we like to call it, "The Final Hunt of The Yeti).

Stay tuned to Tom's blog; there will be more to come from him the rest of the year.   Also sometime tomorrow (or Wed), we will be posting "The Winning Shot";  basically our artists will be drawing a sketch of Carl posing with his prize catch (The Yeti).  T-shirts may follow??

In the meantime, Brandi is putting something together over at her site for both Carl and possibly the Yeti as well; so go check it out www.edheadchronicles.com

We will talk to you soon.

P.S. - Oh yeah, I almost forgot, here is the highlight reel from the Final Hunt.

The Yeti is Primed and Ready

Greatest_1141485388_medium

After winning the dirt track event on Wednesday, and the Busch race tonight in Nashville; it seems that Carl is ready to take down the Yeti and win his first Cup race since 2005. We'll find out tomorrow. If he he pulls it off, it will be a great day in Yeti-ville.

FYI: Another Yeti Spotting in Columbia, MO

Look at the video from Youtube.  A friend of the Yeti crew shot it a couple of weeks ago, and actually caught the Yeti on tape with his dog.

If you pause the clip below at 2:30, you can briefly see Tommy and his dog, hanging out between The Missouri Theatre and Shakespeare's Pizza on Ninth Street in Columbia.  Also, if you haven't ever visited Columbia, MO; this video gives you a quick tour of Carl's home town, and shows some of the cool bars and restaurants around town.

We just thought it was interesting, that the Yeti was actually caught on tape, unexpectedly.

Correction on the timing: The video counter counted down for me from 6:40. Spotted the yeti at about 4:21. Thanks for the correction RT.

Up toward the front (in the lead on lap 220)

Tom is getting anxious, Carl was leading at Dover today, on lap 220 of 400.

After a pit stop, he has fallen to 2nd, but is still kicking butt.

Hopefully, Carl can pull it off today, and we can finally see Tommy's face again and say see you later to the Yeti.
